The Starichkov Island is situated about 10 km (5,5 miles) from the entrance to the Avachinskaya bay. It got its name after small sea birds - Murrelets that nest there (in Russian it sounds like “Starik”). The Starichkov Island is a nature reserve on water which abounds in puffins, loons, cormorants and other waterfowl. Several nests of Steller’s Sea Eagle and a seal harem are situated on the island.
Volcanoes, geysers, hot springs are often compared to dragons that spew fire and ice. Therefore, they can be associated with Kamchatka dragons - a metaphorical image that reflects the power and beauty of the peninsula's nature.
Tolbachik Dol is one of the most unique places in Kamchatka. Tolbachik volcano is located in the southwestern sector of the Kliuchevskoi group of volcanoes.
Kamchatka is the land of ice and flame, the mother of fire-breathing giants of volcanoes, crystal clear rivers and lakes, the homeland of brown bears, king salmon, graceful orcas and whales.
